Was this unit involved in combat in the battle of Moscow? I am looking into the career of Hauptmann Emil Eitel and he receives the EK1/EK2 in March 1942 which would argue some form of combat experience in 1941-42. He was a former flak gunner who had spent a year in a construction battalion and received the Flak Badge probably at some time in 1941/2.

He later became a successful commander of a Luftwaffe Jaeger Regiment.

Hi Keith,

Do you know the number of the construction battalion to which Eitel belonged? To answer your question, he would not have been involved in the battle of Moscow, but more likely in defensive battles in the Vyazma area.

All the best,
Jason
