Opinion on S&L gold wound badge

#1

Post by LaSi69 » 23 Nov 2014, 00:01

Hi everybody.
Any opinions on this Wound badge in gold by S&L. I would agree that is S&L but I'm not so shure with the gold finish.
The dimensions are - Hight ca. 44.5mm, Width ca. 36,5mm and Weight: 34,77g.
Seller got the badge from a guy who got it from a german vet and guaranties autenticy.

Thanks in advance,
Lado

Seems to be treated with aerosol gold paint.

I disagree with v.thoma about the finish.... however, whether it's real or not is a different matter.... the so called story means NOTHING.... but you need to ask the "wound badge specialists".... some of the newer repro.s are beyond my expertise.... I'd post over at the Wehrmacht Awards Forum (or other, more specialized forums)... you have a wider base of experienced collectors...some who specialize in Wound badges and would be more aware of what are the latest repro.s

I don't have access to my references at the moment.... but I don't see any obvious reasons to rule it out....

I do agree.... gold spray paint wouldn't be a good sign!
