Unidentified Medals, Decorations, Badges in wear
Re: Unidentified Medals, Decorations, Badges in wear
I would have serious reservations about this coin, links to the "Holocaust Museum" being of "face value" only since few Museums or curators know anything about the pitfalls of reproductions and fantasy items.... especially German WW2 (i.e.: Nazi) & Holocaust related items.
I've seen examples of this "coin" in the past.... I always considered them "fantasy" fakes. None were in "vet. lots"... wouldn't be for me- I agree with Ian, Star of David/smaller Swastika would not be "kosher" and the use of "Nazi" in the text makes no sense IMO.

Would the title "Ein Nazi fahrt nach Palestina" in Der Angriff surprise you?
These coins might be fantasy items, I don't know but their supposed origin is interesting.

Thanks for your input, guys!
I did doubt the story because never before I came upon a text where members of the NSDAP are calling themself "Nazi".

Re: Unidentified Medals, Decorations, Badges in wear
It's not an 'award' it's a WHW fund raising piece ... sold by volunteers to fund warm clothing among other things. These are cheap plastic/tin items but do have a core of collectors who build up the sets.
Low value piece I'm afraid.

I think someone has photoshopped the Iron Cross 1st Class on both recipients .... making them into a swirl.Pz III wrote:Can someone identify the medal/award/insignia above the pilots badge on this Luftwaffe pilot.

Hi, what is the medal hanging from the button of Georg Briel's uniform? Is it Italia? (he served with the Afrikakorps from 1941 to 1943)

Another of Briel's decorations from the same source. In the top right row, what is the medal at right, 4th and 3rd from right? I only know the Medaglia commemorativa della campagna italo-tedesca in Africa (2nd from right).

The medal 3rd from right is the Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen (http://www.axishistory.com/axis-nations ... nces-medal) and the medal 4th from right is a Wehrmacht-Dienstauszeichnung award (http://www.axishistory.com/axis-nations ... -wehrmacht)

Re: Unidentified Medals, Decorations, Badges in wear
Thank you hucks216. Do you know what is the medal at far right, also the foreign medal in the first picture?
Re: Unidentified Medals, Decorations, Badges in wear
No idea I'm afraid. I'd imagine it was Italian, or maybe Romanian, (the one in the photograph) but that is just a guess.
Re: Unidentified Medals, Decorations, Badges in wear
Could this be the one in the photo. The shape of the cross matches and so do the swords I think -
