Stephen,

Just for the record I have seen other badges by this maker with a "floating" RZM logo.

KCJ wrote:The RZM "bug" or logo (Schutzzeichen) was announced December 20, 1934, with mandatory effect Jan. 16, 1935. The first license numbers were issued at that time, and the "M" prefix began in March, 1935. Metal badges were briefly given the "A" prefix (Abzeichen) which was abandoned almost immediately and I can't recall ever actually seeing it.

The RZM standardized party badges and equipment, but it took a while for manufacturers to conform.

For what it's worth, I think the badge shown could well be genuine, and dated from the period Jan-March, 1935. The RZM logo looks separately applied, which could be if it was added to old stock post 1934.

Cheers,

Stephen

It's a good one IMO Walther. There is a guy on the WAF Forum that calle himself "Doctor Love" that fixes things like this. I have seen many examples of his work and he is very talented at what he does should you want it repaired. Stormtrooper

Hello again,

On the other forum his name is wh014d4394 and he goes by Jimmy though his nickname is Dr. Love - I would leave your badge alone though as it is rather rare. Hope this helps.

I was thinking along the same lines of just leaving it the way it is, I don't plan on wearing it and it displays nicely like it is.

It looks of quality but I did not know they used that sort of clasp, or never seen one. Perhaps a personal mod?
