This is a reproduction ribbon bars as worn by SS-Obergruppenführer Josef "Sepp" Dietrich commander of the SS-Leibstandarte (Life Guard) "Adolf Hitler". I only know a more "popular" one like EK II, Ostmedaille and Service Medals. Can someone identify the medals? Thank you in advance...

Quick reply... may not be exactly correct "title" but close enough:

1. 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Cl. w/1939 Clasp
2. Ost medal
3, Bavarian Military Serv. Cross w/swds
4. Baden Bravery Award w/Wreath
5. Honor Cross 1914-18 w/swds.
6. Silesian Eagle
7. Baltic Cross
8. Wehr. 25 Yr. Serv.
9. Wehr. 12 Yr. Serv.
10, NSDAP 15 Yr. Serv.
11. NSDAP 10 Yr. Serv.
12. Austrian Annex. medal
13. Sudetenland medal w/Prague Bar
14. Memellands medal
15. Hungarian WW 1 Medal w/swds.
16. Austrian WW 1 medal w/swds.
17. Tirol (or Hungarian) WW 1 medal w/swds.
18. Bulgarian Bravery Award w/swds.

No idear if these are "correct" for "Sepp" or not.... but that's basically what's here... (done off the top of my head... don't have my books in front of me at present....)

Hello friends.

In this photo we can see Generaloberst Bruno Loerzer with King Vittorio Emanuele III. The decoration on hisright chest could be an Italian Crown Order or a Military Merit Order of Savoy?

Image

On Axis Biographical Research site there's no mention to any Italian decoration, but it must be an Italian award because he's in company with Italian King.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, bit of newbie here. I don't suppose someone could tell me what medals are on the attached picture? He's family and I was wondering what he had? Plus if you could advise his rank that would be great as well. The picture was taken circa 1938.

Many thanks,

The pocket awards are the Iron Cross ('EK') 1st Class 1914 and the 1939 bar above it. (this mean he won the award in both World Wars) a WWI black wound badge and a DRL or DRA sports award.

The ribbon bar is less easy, from the left is the EKII 1914 and 1939 bar, the 'Hindenburg' Cross of Honour (presumably for combatants but there are no swords ... that doesn't make any sense though), a Wehrmacht 4 year Long Service Medal, The Memelland Medal, then possibly a 1914-18 Austro-Hungarian Service Medal with Swords ? and 2 other awards I can't make out, the last one could be a Westwall Medal OR all the last 3 could be foreign service awards ?

Sorry not to be more certain.

It looks like the plaited cord shoulder straps have 1 pip each and a regimental cypher so that would make him an Oberst-Leutnant (Lieutenant Colonel).

Hi guys. I am not a collector of Nazi regalia and I came across this piece some 20 years ago, when a now deceased friend of mine, a very serious collector of Russian orders and medals suggested that I buy this as an investment piece. I never bothered what it was and how much that could cost, untill I brought it to a trader today, who said it was surely a fake and a fantasy piece. I could have discarded this, for te money I paid for it was not tremendous, but I am surprised since to me the quality of workmanship is high, like the tiny edges on the corners of swastica, which suggest that it was minted, would cont command a pretty decent prise for a one-off fake. I am also puzzled by the many stamps and dates on the back of the thing, especially the - what to me looks like "itali" mark on the pin, and the date which suggests 1937 as the year of the award. Of course I also am puzzled by this thing being discarded simply as a fake since to me the guy who sold it to me was a very serious and reputable collector, so this would really change my view on our past relationship. To make it short, I am really lost and would be greatful for any suggestions. It looks like a silver item.

I'm afraid that in almost 40 years of collecting and reading about SS militaria I have never seen anything remotely similar. I fear therefore that it is indeed a fantasy creation, designed to steal your money. The use of the SS runes without authorisation was strictly forbidden and the eagle seems to be an enlarged Waffen Amt stamp, as found on military armaments. If the piece was silver it would have an '800' or indeed '925' (parts per 1000) silver content stamp. If it was made by a private jeweller it would still have that content hallmark.

Sorry but as we would say here in England ... you've been sold a pup. :?

In the second ribbon bar of Heinrich Müller we can see a ribbon with a crown-device, sureley an Italian Order. Do you know what Italian decortion(s) received him?

Below is a slightly better photo of the ribbon-bar. I could find no Italian awards in Müller's Personalakten. Here are the awards I have for him:

1914 Eisernes Kreuz II.Klasse
1914 Eisernes Kreuz I.Klasse
Flugzeugführerabzeichen
Kgl. Bayerisches Militär-Verdienstkreuz mit Krone und Schwertern
Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer
SA-Sportabzeichen in Bronze
Winkel für alte Kämpfer
Deutsche-Olympia-Ehrenzeichen I.Klasse: 1937
Polizei-Dienstauszeichnung 2.Stufe: 1937
Polizei-Dienstauszeichnung 1.Stufe
Ehrenzeichen vom 9.Nov.1923 (Blutorden)*: 31.05.1939
Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13. März 1938
Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938
1939 Spange zum Eisernen Kreuz II. Klasse 1914: 1939
1939 Spange zum Eisernen Kreuz I. Klasse 1914: 29.10.1940
Kriegsverdienstkreuz II.Klasse ohne Schwertern: 01.09.1941
Kriegsverdienstkreuz II.Klasse mit Schwertern: 30.01.1942
Kriegsverdienstkreuz I.Klasse mit Schwertern
Ritterkreuz zum Kriegsverdienstkreuz mit Schwertern: 10.10.1944

(*Note: Müller is not listed as having a Blutorden in Patzwall's "Das Ehrenzeichen vom 9.November 1923 (Blutorden)" or the 26.12.1945 "Blutordenliste" from the Berlin Document Center, but the award does appear on Müller's SS-Führerkarte in his Perasonalakten and also in the book by Andreas Schulz & Dieter Zinke "Die Generale der Waffen-SS und der Polizei, Band 3")

Dear friends, on this pic of Vizeadmiral Friedrich Götting we can see a breast star decoration on his chest, with the Iron Cross and the U-boat abzeichen. According to Axis Biographical Research he didn't receive any breast star award, so... what can be this decoration?

Dear friends, some days ago appeared in the Fórum this image of German Staff at Paris. General der Infanterie Otto von Stülpnagel wears on his tunic an imperial aviation commemerative badge and a Luftwaffe / III Reich-era badge.

What could be this Luftwaffe badge? Observer badge, maybe?

Thanks for your help.
