SS-Standartenführer Hans Landa's decorations

Quite right, of course. Oddly though, unless I am very much mistaken, this thread actually was originally in the "Movies & Games" forum before it got moved to the "SS & Polizei" forum and now the "Awards, Badges & Decorations" section. Hans sure gets around.Phil Nix wrote:To newcomers to the forum can I make the point that this is an actor and there was in reality no SS Standartenführer Hans Landa and i think the post should be moved

By the way, does anyone realised that the oakleaf rank of Hans Landa's kragenspiegln was reversed in two scenes? You can spot the difference between the Standartenfuehrer's collar patch rank at the scene with the French farmer and the apple struedel scene with Mademoiselle Mimeux

Re: SS-Standartenführer Hans Landa's decorations
any idea who advised the costume crew re: awards, placement, etc?
Re: SS-Standartenführer Hans Landa's decorations
Why are any of us wasting our time on this rubbish.....it's a movie, and a lousey one IMO......done with Hollywood's typical ignorance of uniforms, awards, and history.....so who cares? Next we'll be discussing Captain Kirk & Mr. Spocks SS uniforms from episode "whatever it was" or why Sgt. Saunder's didn't receive the Medal of Honor for killing more Germans than anyone else without reloading his thompson SMG....on Combat!
This is supposed to be a serious historical discussion. It might be germain to ask a question about something to do with his uniform or awards but 21 posts (now 22)....
Just my opinion and I'll allow this to continue...but this never ceases to amaze me....much to do about nothing!

My God--- I just finished watching it less than 40 seconds ago. Not a SINGLE redeeming quality. Filthy, nasty rubbish in every way. Without a doubt, the worst piece of cinematic offal I've ever seen. I'm literally nauseous right now.

my daughter and I saw it in Munich, largely German audience. They found it amusing and laughed; I think we never even smiled throughout it. I thought it insipid.

Did a SD Polizei officer like Landa always wear a brown shirt?
Was the white shirt for formal occasions?

What a wonderfully sad world we live in when real Germans laugh at people making fun of their ancestors, im only half German and I still take great offense at this tarantino movie.Michael Miller wrote:My God--- I just finished watching it less than 40 seconds ago. Also I have a question in the German version how does that work with the HakenKreuz where they blurred over or replaced with some other symbol, or just left as they were.
And...
Im pretty sure I read that originally Leonardo Dicapprio was scheduled to play Hans Landa but was changed last minute for someone who could fluently speak German/French.

When you see photos of Himmler wearing a white shirt, is that because its a special occasion?von thoma wrote:Yes was reglamentary in the SS,the brown shirt with black tie.Mayer wrote:Did a SD Polizei officer like Landa always wear a brown shirt?

BTW found this site which explains a few of the awards and decorations of Landa, http://cobblerkhan.blogspot.com/2009/10 ... forms.html.
