Heydrich's funeral pillow. Foreign awards

#1

Post by Cartaphilus » 06 May 2010, 20:16

Greetings to all the members of this excellent forum. I need your wisdom to identify the breast-stars of Heydrich's funeral pillow. There are 7 stars, and it's difficult. The first seems Order of Saint Maurice and Lazarus of Italy, the second reminds me to the Orden of the Crown of Romania, and the third could be the Order of the Crown of Italy, but I'm not sure in any case. Can anyone identify them?

Just a short question, probably unrelated to the topic (sorry guys!)

The Stahlhelm worn by the Hauptsturmfuehrer seems to be tad rare I think. Is it pre-war liner?

Panzermahn & others...
The helmet appears to be a Civil M34 type which was favored by the SD and worn thru the war.....certianly rare in it's SS/SD form.....

While the pictures are very fuzzy.....I think I see among the breast Stars....Japanese Order of the Rising Sun 2nd Cl. (Breast Star w/8 pts., Red enamel center) & the Manchuokuan Order of the Auspicious Cloud Grand Cross Breast Star...
but as I said....hard to be sure with the blurry picture....

Certianly possible as both had diplomatic relations with the 3rd Reich at the time....

What is, in your opinion, the star of the Order of the Auspicious Clouds?

Maybe the identification could be as it:

- On the top: Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus (Italy)

- First line: Military Order of Savoy, Order of the Crown of Italy (Grand Cross), Order of Merit 2nd class (Hungary)

- Second line: Order of Saint Alexander (Bulgaria), Order of the Rising Sun (Second Class), Order of the Crown of Italy (Grand Officer)

Yes, it's quite difficult.

The 1st Order on the left, top row of three (actually 2nd row) looks like it might be the Order of the Auspicious Cloud......but could well be the Milit. Order d. Savoy.....

I have no idear if Heydrich got an O. d. Auspicious Cloud or not.....but the central design looks like it might be????
Anyway...

On the 1st pillow: Hitler is adding the "German Order", (top center).....but I see the LW flt. clasp, a Golden Party Pin, the LW Pilot's badge, Iron Cross 1st Cl., Olympic Neck Order, Danzig Cross 1st Cl., Wound Badge, Red Cross/Social Welfare neck Order, and his medal bar below......

Bonjour,

It seems to me that this decoration is similar to the breast star of the Japanese order of the rising sun.

I'm pretty sure it is a Japanese Order of the Rising Sun 1st Cl. Breast Star (awarded post-mortem)...
