Dutch SS Sport Badge
Re: Dutch SS Sport Badge
This badge is a copy. The actual award was not produced. There was however a few of the award books printed. These are EXTREEMLY RARE.
This award will be covered in my new book.
The Germanic Listen runes superceeded this award, again very rare.

I ask for Dutch SS Sport Badge is original or fake.
Thanks,
According to Littlejohn/Dodkin "Orders, Decorations, Medals and Badgews of the 3rd Reich Vol. 2" Pg. 117 it states "In 1941, the leader of the Dutch SS, J.H. Feldmeyer, instituted a Sports Badge (Sportteeken) in the form of an oval wreath of laurel (?) leaves enclosing the SS runes. This badge was awarded on an age basis as follows:
Bronze: For men between ages 20 and 29.
Silver: For men between the ages of 30 and 42.
Gold: For men over the age of 42.
With the upright Sword- Badge becomes a Sports Decoration" (Sportseerteeken) to recognize any particular outstanding achievement in "Sports" by a member of the Dutch SS.
There is some question if this award was ever issued.... and no one could tell if the posted example is original or not from ONE photo..... we're not mind readers....

Re: Dutch SS Sport Badge
The reverse tells all. This is the classical fake piece. The markings are to give credence.

Re: Dutch SS Sport Badge
I agree with WARLORD....the posted example of the Dutch SS Sports Badge is NOT ORIGINAL.... the catch is a typical POSTWAR "57" type catch..... and the quality of the sodering job would never have passed 1941 standards.... well known reproduction, Sorry.
Next time you Quote me ( at WAF) please include the entire text.... you left out the part where I said "there is some question if these were ever awarded".... which changed the "inflection" of what I wrote....

Re: Dutch SS Sport Badge
I think John G has put this very well and diplomatically. I would humbly sugest jack2233, is trying to convince himself, if not the rest that this badge is an original. The badge has been placed on WAF and there Gaston has given his view. He is a very talented researcher and has the knowledge. So jack2233, please except the facts.
Having said that these badges are a collectable in their own right. Good examples of what would have been.
