Army Balloon Observer's Badge
Re: Army Balloon Observer's Badge
This was a very small run. The quality was good. The design was soft in context.
I show a close up of the Eagle, the two on the left are original, that on the right the later copy. You can see the crispness in the fletching on the original and that on the chest.

Re: Army Balloon Observer's Badge
So the authentic "Dresden" produced badge that you have has different reverse hardware than this fake with the identical hardware of postwar S&L pieces? Can you post a picture of yours?
A lot of people have a different opinion than yours in this thread:

When were these supposed badges manufactured, was it 1944 do you know?

Re: Army Balloon Observer's Badge
The badge you show is that which I would have taken as the 1960's copy.
Re: Army Balloon Observer's Badge
I was mistaken ... the photo I have is of the bullion version of the balloon pilots badge. I had the 2 badges mixed up.

Re: Army Balloon Observer's Badge
I am sorry I do not have current pictures of the reverse. The FITINGS ON THE REVERSE ARE SIMILAR TO THAT ON THE COPY. I have attached the article by Dr K. This gives the information. The piece shown from Dr K's collection was photoed about 1950. This was in Berlin. Conection with S&L would have been a bit difficult to say the least.
