Life Saving medal: original?
is this non-wearable Life Saving Medal of the Republic of Prussia original?
many thanks
many thanks
Re: Life Saving medal: original?
No doubt the "State of Prussia" would have awarded it's own Life Saving Awards....but I've never heard of it called the "Prussian Republic" before.... and it's not refrenced in any of my books (the medal).... I know there was a "seperate" Prussian Police, etc. but "Prussian Republic" seems "over the top".... the quality and strike don't seem to be what I'd expect either....however, I certianly would seek more opinions before I ruled it "out"....
Not much help...sorry. I'd expect an Award of this time period and importance would be "Silver" (800/900) and marked on the edge... but again... it's a "new one" to me... (and nothing is "absolute" in this field!)
If it is "right", certianly a very rare award!... but very "specialized".

Thanks for your reply.
The term "Republik Preussen" and the design of the medal appear to be correct, see http://www.ehrenzeichen-orden.de/weimar ... -1925.html
However, other people I've shown the pics to think that this is a cast copy. Which was to be expected due to its low price, it was a bit too good to be true

Re: Life Saving medal: original?
The surface pitting would imply a sand casting, possibly off a real award ...

I have no idea, it's for sale on eBay and it's not in my possession.
