kriegs verdienste medal

#1

Post by oudgidske » 09 Jul 2014, 10:28

I recently procured a lot of German insignia and medals from an older collector. Since I'm not an expert, I'm trying to find out if it are originals. Thanks a lot for your help.

Ian,

I have never seen an example such as the one on the right with the individualization, how interesting.

Hi William, it looks to have been done with a pair of tinsnips or something similar ... I've had it for many years and until the dawn of the internet thought that was how all KVMs were

My best guess is that it was awarded to a very bored metalworker ?

To further emphasise my liking for this 'humble' award ...

For many German civilians this was the highest award they could gain in the service of their country, be it working in a factory or some other war effort.

I also have a liking for the Kriegsverdienst medals.
Here are some of mine, I'm only missing the Knights Cross w/o swerten. I also have them cased and in envelopes.
