Thanks William , thought it was good but always good to get a second opinion , I have just naturally crossed over from British awards to German , can you or anyone else recommend a good reference book on WW1 German awards in which I could invest ?

KO Königliches Münzamt Orden Berlin. I believe there was doubt as to whether or not this was the manufacturer KO , is that still the case ?

Sorry I can't comment on the KO marking but the medal bar dates to post 1934 when the Honour Cross (for Combatants in this case) was instituted by Hindenburg ... hence it's common name the Hindenburg Cross.
Nice simple and original bar and button hole version for the button hole of a civilian jacket.
