we all started somewhere!

Re: Show us your Third Reich decorations!
I found these today in the window of a Helsinki coin dealer. The woman in the shop knew nothing of their origins but said that all their stock was verified by experts. They want 200 euro for the EK and 120 for the NSDAP pin. The price per se is not a problem for me but I'd rather not get ripped off. The NSDAP pin is a bit unfocused because she wouldn't take it out of the plastic case. I said I'd buy them if I got positive opinions from experts. Could I get some opinions on their authenticity and value? Replies needed within 36 hours please.

Re: Show us your Third Reich decorations!
Unless it's a very rare EKII €200 is WAY over-priced .... most sell for ~€50-€75 a mint one for ~€100.
To give you some idea this ..
was €110

Thanks, I see what you mean.
Re: Show us your Third Reich decorations!
Adam. Ian is right, EK2 go in the 100 euro range or in dollars $125-140. Marked EK2's go for a bit more, maybe 20-30 dollars.

You bought this as your "first collecting piece" without asking opinions first? ????????dollyferret wrote:this is my first collecting piece, not sure I have the download size right, been trying for an hour,

I hope you didn't pay alot of money... this is VERY SUSPECT, something that would require provenance and documentation before any serious collector would "buy" (or believe) it, IMHO.
Certianly could be a period "Godet" inkwell... but the "presentation" is "iffy", and the RUNES are "pathetic"....NOTHING like the quality and hand engraving of that firm...., and very typical of "Tons" of material coming out of eastern europe ....
Unless this has very solid evidence to back it up....(more than a "war story").... I wouldn't pay more than $100.00 for it or give it shelf space...(seeing the "Godet" markings/knowing full story might make a differance...but I doubt it!)
VERY VERY QUESTIONABLE IMHO!..... you should post this for more opinions on the other "major" forums... but be prepared.
Good luck...

Well, I thought I had posted photos a long time ago, but it seem not, so here they are. This will take me 4 or 5 posts i guess since this doesn't seem to allow but 5 photo and then will not load even that many. I'll try 3 this time and see what happens?
Wouldn't load 3 so I'll try 2.
First it how I displayed my medals in the late 1950s - pinned onto a bath towel and nailed to my bedroom wall.
then some political medals.

Well looks like I'm limited to only 2 photos - but I'll try 3 again - wonder why that is??? Well 3 worked this time.
