Thank you, Herbert. That was truely impressive.

As to the last one, the caption said U565, Sept 44 to Dec 44 from Saloniki to Germany. The commonly known RKT was the Kmd, Franken but it didn't look like him at all. And U565 did operate in the Aegean Sea but was scuttled so didn't make it back to German waters.

Cheers
Freiherr

Hi Freiherr,

the last Komdt. U 565 was KL Fritz Henning (10.43 - 9.44). U 565 on 25.9. by air raid one had heavily damaged and one had sunk then.

Gruß

Now, now, it's so much easier to slap on a question than to provide an answer.

Cursory look suggests a Rumanian cross but the peaked cap seems to also suggest a Bulgarian and the collar tabs a Hungarian!! Simply stuck and not able to make an educated guess. I am sure you are in good hands: Dieter, VJK, Miocid, Vienna, Herbert, Denis, Staffenberg, Harmel, Mike Miller, John Toner, Phil Nix, JPK, Gareth and all those I have forgotten for the moment.

In a way we keep the good English tradition... we don't say anything when there is nothing to say.

Happy New Year to the Wehrmacht ID Olympiad

Hi trbooks!

Pic L 11126-16 looks like Lindemann Georg (later Generaloberst). He was Cdr. of the L.Armeekorps, KC 5.8.40,
L. AK was in Bulgaria from 3.41 - June 41 ?

Regards

You said Georg. Conveniently forgot he served in the Yugoslavian campaign. So slim and without googles (guess you can't wear goggles to a funeral!) Does look like his mouth, although Georg liked to have his spange also to his EKII

Hi Elwyn,293x441 is Obstlt Martin Steglich.

327X486 looks like the future Eichenlaubtrager Generalmajor Ernst Konig,
he is though wearing a Mtn Troop badge,
he spent most of his fighting career with the 31st Inf Div,
but later Cmdr 28th Jager Div.
