Walter Paul Liebing,Major Führer Fsch.Jäg.Rgt 23
Attended flying school and flew sorties with recce unit 1.(H)/32 on the Eastern Front.Then transferred to 1.Luftwaffe-Feld-Division as Hauptmann,1942.Joined First Parachute Army,February 1945.Served in Kampfgruppe Eggers in the Nancy sector--"held the Mosel and Meurthe position as well as the Seulle sector against superior enemy fotces",February 1945,awarded the KC.Took command of FJR23 March 1945.Recommended for Oak Leaves in March but never received for his counterattacks at Krefeld and his defense of the Uerdingen bridgehead along the Rhine.

Karl Stephan Tannert, Hauptmann Kdr III./Fsch.Jäg.Rgt 2
Joined Reichswehr 1932.With IR8 and IR74.Transferred to FJ June 1939.Involved in capture of Masnedö Bridge,Denmark 1940.Then engaged in Holland,Norway(Narvik).Badly wounded Crete 1941.Served in Russia 1941-43.Awarded KC for his actions on the southern sector,Russian Front,late 1943.

Commanded FJR2 in 1944 and captured at Brest,September 1944.

Martin Kühne,Hauptmann Kdr I./Fsch.Jäg.Rgt 2
Kühne joined Luftwaffe Flak in 1937.Transferred to FJR1 1939.Badly wounded at Moerdijk 1940.Took part in Corinth Canal action,1941--recommended for KC for capturing an AA battery but never awarded.Badly wounded at Crete again.Served in Russia 1942 then joined Ramcke Brigade,Africa.Awarded DKiG.Evacuated to Italy and commanded I/FJR2 in 1943.Airdroped Leros November 1943 and awarded KC for his bravery there.

Thanks for all this info again Peter,the one on Alexander Uhlig i have read info too how i think was he not in the planes first then went to the FJ and and then planes and again back to the FJ?.Unless its just the FJ too the planes and back,also i think he is alive still too right possibly?.

Yes,Alexander Uhlig is still alive.

Alfred Sturm,Oberst Kdr Fsch.Jäg.Rgt 2
Said at 53 to be the oldest officer who jumped into Crete in 1941.

Flew with Jagdstaffel 5 in WW1,in Reichswehr after war.Joined air service 1933.Jumped at Corinth Canal,and captured on Crete on second day.Kroh took over his regiment until he was released.Commanded Kampfgruppe Sturm,Eastern Front 1942.Retired January 1945.

Joined Cavalry 1934.Transferred to Luftwaffe in 1935.Served with Condor Legion in Spain.Saw action with 3.Kompanie/FJR2 Holland 1940.Jumped Corinth and Crete.At Rethymnon captured Hill 156 being then awarded the KC.Served in staff positions remainder of war,Major 1945.

Did basic pilot training and trained as glider pilot.Landed troops at Eban Emael 1940.Took part in Corinth Canal assault..."Fulda's most daring landing was on Crete...",awarded KC.Flew transports,Russia 1942.Flew fighters with JG 301 and JG 4 Germany 1943-1944.Kommandeur of 1 Gruppe/JG 400(Me 163s),November 1944.

Joined Flak in 1937.Transferred to FJ in 1939.For his superb leadership at the Corinth Canal,and although wounded,was awarded the KC.Later saw action in Russia,Italy.Severely wounded near Zhitomir November 1943.Commanded I Btl/FJR16 in 194.Awarded DKiG September 1944.At war's end Operations Officer of 1st Parachute Army.

Gerhart Schirmer, Hauptmann Chef 6./Fsch.Jäg.Rgt 2
Joined Luftwaffe 1935.Transferred to FJ 1939.Served in Holland 1940.Teusen's company commander at the Corinth Canal 1941,taking over command of II/FJR2 after Pietzonka broke his leg on landing.Awarded KC for his actions at Hill 296,Heraklion Crete.Later served in Tunisia and commanded FJR5 after Koch was wounded.Commanded FJR16 on Russian Front 1944-45.Captured by the Soviets in 1945 and not released until 1956.Died in 2004.
