Again with regard to Theilacker :
According to Keilig he commanded as from March 45 :
the 445.Inf. Div. (wrong, it was the 245.ID !)
the 464.Inf.Div. (OK.)
the 413.Inf.Div. (wrong, it was the 416.ID !)
Mehner writes : ”in the Stellenbesetzung (command roster) of 1945 (handwritten by H.P.A) Theilacker commanded the 245.ID, whilst in the Stellenbesetzung (command roster) of OB. Nordwest dated 24.4.45 Theilacker commanded the 416.ID” (also in the commandeurs-list of HGr. Weichsel dated about Apr. 45 it is reported+confirmed that Theilacker commanded the 416.ID). So now this is finally clear.
With regard to the 256.VGD Mehner writes that according to the Kartei of HPA Theilacker commanded from 20 until end of April 45 this Div. too, but this is not confirmed in the division. history of the 256.VGD where it is written only that Gen. Franz commanded until 8.4.45 (then probably Gen. Warnecke, mentioned by Keilig + Mehner).

Believe me, Keilig has errors and omissions because it was compiled in the 1950s. Trust Dieter as he has worked with the Biblio team on the German generals series (now unfortunately seemingly suspended after volume 7). Dieter also has other fantastic sources. He has helped me with my manuscript numerous times.

Best regards,
Genstab

Now I think concerning Eugen Theilacker what is confirmable to some extent:

13.02.1945 - 15.03.1945 kommandiert zum Divisionsführer-Kurs 17 in Neustadt/Fränkische Saale
01.04.1945 Kommandeur der 245. Infanterie-Division (Stellung wegen der Kampfhandlungen nicht angetreten) [appointment not accepted as a result of the combat operations]
(03.04.1945 - 20.04.1945) Führer der 416. Infanterie-Division und der 464. Infanterie-Division
20.04.1945 - 08.05.1945 Führer der 256. Volksgrenadier-Division

In the “Sammlung Krug” (BArch/MilArch Freiburg i.Br.) is mentioned:
“02.1945 - 03.1945 kommandiert zum Divisionsführer-Kurs in Neustadt.
01.04.1945 Kommandeur 245. ID (Stellung wegen der Kampfhandlungen nicht angetreten)
[appointment not accepted as a result of the combat operations],
dafür 03.04.1945 - 08.05.1945 vom AOK 7 zur Führung verschiedener Divisionen (413, 464 und 445) eingesetzt“
[instead appointed as commander of the divisions 413, 464 and 445 by CiC AOK 7]

Surely “Sammlung Krug” is wrong with the divisions 413 and 445.

Hallo Dieter,
I don't know what to think about Gen. Theilacker. You have better sources than I. Both Mehner and Keilig say 413. ID instead of 416. ID- but they are not always reliable. Probably Mehner's 445. ID like Sammlung Krug's is a typo and 245 ID was meant.

As always, I appreciate your kind help. I hope we're not at a dead end.

Best regards,
Bill

I want to use a nice pic of Theilacker (from "Sammlung Krug") as an outlet for frustration. Enjoy !!

Hello Dieter,

thanks for Theilacker´s photo
I think I will stay with Mehner´s assertions, i. e. :
"[i.d. Stellenbesetzung 45 hs. HPA führt Gen. Theilacker
die 245 ID.,und lt. Stellenbes. OB.Nordwest v.24.4.45 führt er
die 416.ID.].

Hi
The Mehner has his error.
I have too.

413.ID 05.04.1945 - 10.04.1945 (Mehner)
Ka.Gru.Theilacker 11.04.1945 - 13.04.1945 (Petersen/ Gerstdorff)
Div.469 ??.04.1945 - ??.05.1945 (Petersen/ Gerstdorff)
416.ID 03.05.1945 - ??.05.1945 (HPA)

cheers Jan
