Hello and thanks for your reminder Vikki :D; I've found those pictures while cleaning my PC and instead of simply erased them I shared them here but as I saved them once, sadly I can not quoted the seller's ID for the time being. Cheers. Raúl M 8-).

Thanks, Raúl. They're great photos, especially the last two you posted. In the first one of that last pair, from the way the horse is "gathered" or composed, it looks as if he's being trained or worked in Dressage, possibly in the classic Passage movement. (? His feet aren't on the diagonal as in a trot, but perhaps in a transitioning position. For a good illustration of the Passage, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passage_(dressage)

Below, some other photos of training for the Remount Service: Rider at "Two-point" teaching the horse footwork over cavalletti; on the longeline; and over jumps. Photos from the book Pferde und Reiter in aller Welt by A.R. Marsani and Major a. D.W. Braun (Berlin: Wilhelm-Limpert Verlag, 1939).

The result of the training was that the horse was trained not only in Springsport (jumping)...

(Notice the famous rider in the third photo, perhaps the best-known Third Reich horseman today.)

Hello all and Vikki in particular,

seeing Hermann Fegelein mentioned above I could not refrain from posting this heavily watermarked photo which shows Fegelein being interviewed by Reich TV on 27/01/1939 on some equestrian subject.

Thanks, Raúl! That first Springsport shot is my favorite German horse photo. Beautiful composition of horse, perfect posture of rider.....Weeeeell, technically, the handsome Rittmeister should be looking forward, between the horse's ears or just to the side of his head....But WHO CARES, when you look that good otherwise? He should be looking at the camera!

Ah, Torsten, that is fantastic!!! It looks like Rebell in the photo too! Leave it to TR TV to bring the horse on stage too--and of course, as any horseman/woman will admit if they're honest, the horse is the true star.

Fantastic shot, many thanks Torsten!

Though from a semi-prominent horse-riding community in Westphalia it's been years that I was on a horse's back during a vacation in Denmark. (The horse presumably knew much better what to do, it was the one with the larger head at least. )
Sorry to be shocking with regard to horses but having spent my military life in Panzergrenadiers and artillery I'm still somehow used to regard them from their nutritional value primarily  . Positive aspect: I'm currently loosing a bit of weight which may help PCAA (prevention of cruelty against animals) in several ways :D .

Best regards

Techno-people are VERY exact at those kinds of things, as I discovered at the worst possible moment in the heat of the middle of last summer, with my refrigerator.

Torsten, you're kidding??? Of the German horses I admire so much, I've actually had some experience with Westphalians, having ridden one or two of them in my (otherwise illspent) youth. They are lovely horses!
The perfect--and easy, for you--choice for learning to ride!

Not for you, obviously--and I'm jealous you get (or got) to see them every day--but for everyone else, I've attached some photos below. I'm put out that the only photos I could find are modern ones, and those from Wikipedia, but the idea of the beauty of these horses comes across.

Good news! Horseback riding is a very effective calorie-burner! :D (Well, at least if you do it the right way.) And then, of course, you’ll have such a good time while you’re doing it, because you’ll just adore the horses, right? (Just think of big, juicy steaks…..although still on the hoof… )

(NOW, she thinks to herself, the only question is how to get the reluctant Knight ON the horse….. )

Best,
~Vikki

Hey Vikki beatiful indeed; these pictures brought to my memory those (gone with the wind) lovely days in my grandpa's farm and when I had my own horse (a criollo ones called Gaucho). Sorry for this kind of "Total Recall" :P . Cheers. Raúl M 8-).

Hello Raúl,

I Googled the Criollo horse, and from the description they sound very much like the Arab mare I had as a teenager: hardy and willing, and sweet--though probably more sensible than Arabs. :D

Oh, for the days with plenty of time and enthusiasm to ride all day--and no concept of fear of how long you'd hurt if you came off the horse!

It was a truth (at least for me). Two more...........

From: eBay auction (now expired).

Cheers. Raúl M 8-).
