Hello Helmuth,

many thanks for your positive response. Here's another Helferinnen snapshot, and a quite vivid one at that. A Luftwaffe Oberhelferin on a park bench somewhere in the Mediterranean war theatre as the palm trees imply. Probably Southern France because that's where I got the photo from. Note the differences in the leather gloves that had to be obtained privately by the Helferinnen.

Thanks Carius,

Excellent photo. What one can observe: Gebirgsjager flower for Norwegian Ski Battalion or not? Red Cross insignia; and she has black armband for mourning; but what is the two things hanging in her belt? The left one looks like a "puukko", multipurpose knife used by finns and others. But next to it at right? North Face (registrated trade mark) hood bag?

Hello Arto,

good observation. Indeed an Edelweiss sticker from the mountain troops that was also en vogue amongst the nurses of SS ski battalion Norway.

The nurse above is wearing the hip bag of the SS frontsösters. Here's another example though I don't know its exact purpose or if it really was made by Norse Face (pun indented).
