Polish memorials to victims of known units
Polish memorials to victims of known units
I'm looking for photos of and information on Polish memorials to victims of war crimes by known Axis units for the AHF Factbook.
Are there for example any memorial to the Poles of the 74th Infantry Regiment that were killed by soldiers from Infanterie-Regiment 15 in 1939?
At the moment we have the general Polish Golgotha during World War Two article but I would like add more information to the unit histories too.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Polish memorials to victims of known units
There is, but a recent work by Janusz Ryt says it has never happened, and the number of executed Polish soldiers there was a dozen or so - in unrelated to the supposed war crime incidents.Marcus Wendel wrote:Are there for example any memorial to the Poles of the 74th Infantry Regiment that were killed by soldiers from Infanterie-Regiment 15 in 1939?
And he speculates that the single proof of that crime was prepared by the communist secret services in order to smear the yet-to-be created Bundeswehr.

This government site presents lists of war cemeteries in Poland.
http://groby.radaopwim.gov.pl/results/?okres=41
List of war cemeteries for the September campaign; 931 total.
http://groby.radaopwim.gov.pl/results/?okres=42
List of war cemeteries for WWII: 3569 total.
Places can be on more than one list, if they cover more than one period.
Memorials for victims of war crimes are titled: Mogiła (grave) terroru hitlerowskiego, (and Soviet, Ukrainian).
Here is an example entry for that type:
http://groby.radaopwim.gov.pl/grob/10314/
Based on a review of a sample of the September Campaign list, I estimate about 10% of the memorials are for Nazi victims. Of the pictures of, or inscriptions on, the memorials I reviewed none that identified the perpetrators.

This gives the result for a search using "terroru hitlerowskiego", yielding a total of 426.
