This photo is captioned as SS-Brigadeführer Karl Bock. Has anyone got a photo of him in SS uniform please?

Here is Karl Bock from the BDC file, there is also one in Andrew Mollo's pictorial History of the SS

Hi Max & Phil!
Why is Karl Bock wearing a Heer uniform in the first pic? Did he fight first in the Heer and later became an SS officer?

No. He was first a member of the SS (20 Nov 1930) and then Heer. Infanterie Reg. 42 and then Inf. Reg. 97 der 46 Inf. Div. He was Hauptmann d. Res. and was KIA 20 Jan 1943 in Westkaukasus. He was posthumously promoted to Major d. Res.
SS-Brigadeführer (1943) mit Wirkung zum 21 Dec 1942.

I've looked in the index of Mollo's Pictorial History of the SS and can't find him. What is the picture number please?

Sorry abouit that I would have quoted the page Nr but I could find my copy. I have it now page 64 Bock on the right. Fritz Wachtler behind Hitler, Ruckdeschel on Wachtlers right. SA leader is Georg Helfer and the big man is Wilhelm Bruckner.

Why doesn't he have the RK on the first photo? Which one is original?
And one more question: in SS-DAL vom 20.04.1942 he's listed as Oberfuehrer, so he couldn't have been promoted Brigadefuehrer in 1941. Are you sure this promotion ever took place?

If you read my earlier notes, I have him promoted to SS-Brig. in 1943 with effect from 21 December 1942. Maybe Oberstab has got the date wrong or vice versa. As for the photograph, it is obvious the RK has been added in the second image. This was common practice.

Bock was promoted Brigadeführer Nachtraglich (posthumously).
