Partisans are not War Criminals.
Few scans from this 2002 in Finland published, Finnish-Russian, book about the fates of Finnish POWs.

Partisans at Finnish front largely concentrated at civilian targets

Actually, like Juha very well knows, using word partisan of those combatants operating here in north is greatly misleading term.

OK - they operated under same command as partisans elsewhere, but they didn't base their operations behind the enemy lines at all. They had barracks behind their own lines and could only make short patrols (or somewhat longer "desant" espionage missions of single man) to their operating area behind Finn/German front.

Reason: There weren't any of the preconditions of successfull resistance movement available for them. Very little Soviet civilians behind the lines and thinking that partisans would get support from Finn civilians is as propable as pig flies.

I have many times wondered why they bothered at all to create those units... maybe they were more for show than anything else. I think Soviet Karelia authorities would had lost their heads if they hadn't create x-number of "partisan" units in their area.

I don't comment more about their acts. Juha posted enough links so that everybody can make their own conclusion.

I was told to post this here:

By the way I talked to a Karelian ( or who used to live in the east 1,5 kilometres from the border ) who was swimming this morning in the swimming hall. He said there were more than 20 cases where soviet partisans killed finnish civilians. He had lost in one such incident in Kuhmo 10 of his relatives...he had been a little boy back then. He said he thanks God he is still alive today. In fact he said it was only matter of seconds that he could be dead now.

In Seitajärvi/Salla direction there folks digging bones of the two kidnapped from the village. All women and children of that village were murdered by soviet partisans ( this was in the Kaleva newspapper the other day ).

so that the history would not be forgotten,
