Hello Michael

According with Eddy Florentin" Stalingrad in Normandie", Eisenhower visit the Chambois battlefield the 26, or 28 august 1944 ( not the 27, visit in Paris ). So, this Tiger overturned must be a I./s.Pz.abt 503 Tiger II.
Find here an other picture of Eisenhower in Moissy-Chambois battlefield.

In another post on this subject "vehicles on Falaise gap" I saw this pic of Tiger II (p) with a captions saying: "abandoned by the crew", since has a hole on the turret side.

I want to maen that is no strange that the crew left the tank as it take a direct hit on the turret. There's a hole on the turet side, I think it's quite clear to me!

it is probably someone taking a shot at a stationary abandoned Tiger.

11 wasn't abandoned here exactly but on the Kellerman boulevard at CHATEAUDUN, behind the red house on the right and the house where ou can see 'DUBONNET". He was abandonned turret at 14 hours with the shot on turret. No fuel in its tanks, but some 88 amunitions and radio. Mister Husson who lived here said me that it was abandonned on the night. It's difficult to say who hit it. I think it was another Tiger (O2 or 10) which continued their retrait. Because of the lack of fuel the 3 Tiger couldn't retrait together. US diaries didn't talk about this destruction, but I know a 654th TD Bn M10 wreked the tiger near this bomb hole in order to let Kellerman road (road of ORLEANS) clean.

Nacho, you have to know that 11 and the others Tiger of The FKL 316 weren't abandoned in the Falaise pocket. Châteaudun is at 140 kilometers S/W of PARIS, not in Normandy.

Sometime during my misspent youth I came across a book full of pictures of various wreckage from Falaise, as well as a number of pictures of vehicles gathered from the battlefield in huge equipment parks. Does anyone know of such a book, or does anyone have pictures of the gathered-up equipment? TIA.

I think the butcher's bill can be appreciated more with the aerials, usually you see a picture of a lone or bunch of destroyed vehicles crowded together, but the aerials..well, you get the impression...... it was like shooting ducks in a barrel..

The last picture has also what looks like a SdKfz 250 NEU (Left lower area)...The raised front plase suggest a 250/8.
Could you ,please,post a bigger scan of the picture of that vehicle? If I´m right this could be the ONLY picture of the interior of a250/8
