LAH Trial in Dachau - identity of persons

#1

Post by Christoph Awender » 30 Aug 2002, 16:33

Hello!

The Angeklagten in the Dachau trial had signs with numbers on the chest. Is there a list which identifies the numbers/persons. Maybe Timo? :-)
And who is this on the foto?

TIA
Christoph

Yes (obviously ;) ) such a list exists. You want a copy or were you just after number 67?

A complete gallery of photos of all of the defendants along with significant ancillary information can be found in the book 'Massacre at Malmedy?' Cuppens, Editions Heimdal, Bayeux FR. As has been my experience, the level of scholarship from Editions Heimdal has been noteworthy.

I am almost too embarrased to say that I lent out my copy and I'm sure that you know the rest of the story. However I will be in Bayeux next month and procure another. If still unanswered I would be only too happy to answer specifically.

Cuppens indeed wrote a very good book. He talked in person with several LAH members who have passed away by now. Sadly, so did Gerd Cuppens in the early nineties. He was working on a new, more detailed book about this subject but never finished it.

Requin, if you scan such a quantity of images from Cuppens' book, please make sure you mention the source. This to avoid legal complications.

Timo

Ok Timo, you are right,
I wanted to do it, because I wanted to put a photo with the defendants in the court.

Fascinating!!

What was the final disposition of all these men? I know people like Peiper were eventually released and not put to death, what about the others?

It's interesting to see the Generals and Colonels reduced to wearing rags like the privates....
