Thanks a lot VJK!!,
I see now, He is one of the old timers... he was in charge of the building of the defenses in the Konigsberg area:
Transferred to the Staff of the Command-Office of Fortifications around Königsberg/Prussia (01 Jul 1943-15 Jul 1943)
Commandant of Fortifications around Königsberg/Prussia (15 Jul 1943-01 Oct 1944)
but how did he fare on the defense of Stettin?
I see he was removed to the Führer-Reserve OKH (15 Apr 1945-08 May 1945) and stayed there until the end of the war... I suppose he moved to bavaria as such (reserve) but then, why did he end in british captivity?

best regards

Xavier

von Edelsheim won his RK on 30.07.41 as Kmdr of RadfAbt 1, part of 1 Inf Div, I assume. Whereas Albert Brachat won his RK 04.07.40 as part of 14 InfRgt, 5 Inf Div. Why should they be in the same ceremony and who then was the general awarding the ceremony?

Cheers

Hi freiherr,

It's Otto Brakat, not Brachat. He won the KC as a Gruppenführer in 2./RadfAbt 1 on 27 July 1941.

This pic was posted by "Mogdala" (forum member of http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com) It shows Hpmt Frank (left) and Mj Heinz Unger (right).
Making a search in http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de I found out that there were three Franks (without photos):
1- Mj Anton Otto Frank (1./PzJagAbt (SF) 15) --- RKE
2- Mj d Res Erich Frank (Kdr III./GrenRgt 116) --- RK
3- Mj Otto Frank (Kdr I./GrenRgt 278) --- RK

Who could this one be?

Hi!

i can see a certain resemblance to Lanz, nevertheless I'd like to offer a possible alternative - Gen.d.Art. Johann Sinnhuber. Just a thought.

VJK

Hi Fangio,

It's not Anton Otto Frank, as there is photo of him with DKiG without RT. As to the other two, Erich was from GrRgt 116 and Otto Frank was from GrRgt 278. What's the connetion with Heinz Unger, SchutzRgt 10?

Cheers
Freiherr
