Oddesund DK - What is this

Postby kstdk on 14 Aug 2006 18:20

Hello

Any chance that anyone knows what this is ??

It is situated south of the Oddesund Bridge in Denmark very near a L409A bunker. Could it be something from the building of the bunkers, or had it some function in relation to the bunkers - or any other equipment ??

Anyone ever seen anything like it before ?

Regards
Kurt

Hello

There is presumably nothing underneath the platform !!!

The size is in square approx. 2 x 2 mtrs., and approx 1 mtr. high.

So, no - not a bunker - but as I mentioned some platform used in the building stage, or platform for some kind of equipment ??

But, I dont know what it has been used for ??

Hi,
After suggesting a Vf Picnic table (notice the waste can in the background), but having been turned down, let me just think out aloud. We tend to associate any concrete we find with some sort of tactical/military application. But in some sites constructions were made jut to aide the construction. For a long time I was mystified by some rather large concrete blocks found adjacent to the L 480 (Wassermann bunkers) and was madly looking for photos of a Wassermann S with supporting wires. It turned out that the blocks were constructed as solid base for the wires used, when the tower was raised. In RINGELNATTER there is an odd construction consisting of 2 paralel rows of concrete bars raised about 2 m above the ground. A mystery radar foundation, no a foundation for the machine which sorted the stones in the various sizes required for the concrete mixture.
The area in Kurt's picture is fairly soggy. Normally concrete mixers were monted on railway sleepers, but in this area they might not be sufficient. I think the Picnic Table could be a foundation for a mixer.

Hello

As I also wrote earlier "some construction used in the building stage of the site" - so I tend to aggree with SES on that.

But excactly what it has been used for, we might never know - until a picture of it in use - or something like this shows up in some other place, or that somebody actually knows the answer - maybe !!

But, there is many "funny structures" that still puzzle us 8O
