Hello Andreas!

This is what Helmuth Spaeter has to say about Erhard Lange in his "Panzerkorps Großdeutschland - A Pictorial History" (1990), and I quote:
Lange, Erhard, First Lieutenant

Defense Command BR, Knight's Cross 1/15/1943. Nearly five months - from August to December of 1942 - First Lieutenant Lange was the leader of the "Schamil" operation witha special command before the German lines in the Caucasus area near Grossny, and returned with the results of reconnaissance via dangerous routes.

In Veit Scherzer's "Ritterkreuzträger" (2005) it says...

Lange, Erhard. Recieved the RK on 15.01.1943 as an Oberleutnant d.R. while Kp. Chef in einem Sonderkdo. des OKW, Ag Auslandsnachrichten u. Abwehr, Abw.Abt.II

Last rank that of Hauptmann d.R.

Andreas,

compiling the award lists for the "Brandenburger" I came across Erhard Lange.
Didn't include him directly to a certain Brandenburg unit because I regarded this
"Sonderkommando des OKW" as a singulary built unit.

Found these two sites/links with very interesting info about Lange and "Operation Schamil"
(obviously Lange and his men were recruited from a Brandenburg training unit)

Hello,

here a small hint on Erhard Lange. Before WW II he'd belonged to the Werksschutz (factory security) of the steel works in Leoben-Donawitz (Styria). Lange was the head of their detective branch.
