12/36 - The "Corps of Colonial Police" was formed for deployment in Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea and Libya as an armed branch of the Ministry of Colonies.
5/39 - Name changed to "Italian African Police" - better known as the PAI.

As a side note, the PAI had an African Police school located in Tivoli, where courses were taught to selected German SD officers.

There were also small units of the Royal Customs Guard billeted in Libya.
