Who has something on the career of this Reserveoffizier ?

I stumbled over him due to this picture in Ritgens Chonik of the Panzer-Lehr-Division :

Hi Jan-Hendrik,
can only add this info:
Iron Cross 2nd Class (17/7/40)
- - - 1st Class (11/1/42)
DkiG-(8/12/42)
KC-10/9/43 awarded for destroying 16 Soviet tanks without loss of his own, from a Panzer position near Novenskoje on 15/7/43 thus
alleviating a strong flank threat.
Regards Harmel :D

Jan-Hendrik,

unfortunately this is not the same Lex...

some info on your man :

Hauptmann Fritx LEX
born 30.01.1917
killed / missing 02.01.1945
burried on Soldatenfriedhof Sandweiler (Luxemburg) - Block A Tomb 80

to my knowledge he was part of the battallion since Hungary, Normandy and the Ardennes
served as Chef Versorgungskompanie II/Panzer Lehr Regiment 130 and Chef 5./Panzer-Lehr-Regiment 130
in the end : Stellvertretender Kommandeur der II./Panzer-Lehr-Regiment

According to Ritgen ("Westfront 1944") : he was captured with two officers of the Panzer Lehr Regiment in a captured jeep on December 30th 1944 south of Bastogne after driving in an ambush. Probably he was shot as a spy (because they thought he was a Greif-kommando...)

Cheers,

Charles Steiner
