Generalmajor Ernst Philipp was Harko 310 in AOK 6 from September 26 1942 until February 16 1943, but the staff of the Harko was destroyed in the Kessel. Does this mean that Philipp was flown out? Who can confirm this?

Hello,

Oberstleutnant (?) Heinrich Kodré
flown out 21.11.1942
http://www.ritterkreuztraeger-1939-45.d ... inrich.htm
(Don't know if he counts as the encirclement was not completed by that date.)

Best regards
Torsten

Kodré was never encircled in Stalingrad. He was replaced as chief-of-staff of 305.I.D. because of stress-induced health reasons. A performance report about him stated:
"Fully proven as a divisional chief-of-staff during the summer campaign of 1942. During the fighting in Stalingrad, responsibilty for commanding the division lay completely with him at times because his division commander, without reporting himself ill, was impeded by a nervous disorder. Kodré could not completely cope with this overload, to which his own state of health contributed."
He was replaced by Oberstleutnant i.G. Rudolf Paltzo. Kodré left Stalingrad in early November 1942.

The task of compiling the names of all officers flown out of the Kessel is mammoth! There were definitely hundreds flown out.

All the best,
Jason

Hi,

a thorough research of the Google results for "Stalingrad ausgeflogen" will presumably produce a number of others. Here are some examples

Oberleutnant Helmut Meitzel
http://www.waffenhq.de/biographien/biog ... itzel.html

Hauptmann Fritz Hartnagel
brother-in-law of Hans and Sophie Scholl
http://www.dieterwunderlich.de/Sophie_Scholl.htm

Hauptmann Bernd Freytag von Loringhoven
http://www.schaepp.de/stalingrad/untergang/in.html

Oberst Friedrich Gustav Jäger
ill with spottled fever
http://www.dhm.de/lemo/html/biografien/ ... index.html

Good luck
Torsten

NATO General and Author Ferdinand Maria von Senger und Etterlin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand ... d_Etterlin

According to Wikipedia he was awarded the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold, September 4, 1944, Panzervernichtungsabzeichen and Nahkampfspange in Silver which are interesting desorations for a Panzer officer. I met him once and only just remembered in time to shake hands with the left hand.

CFan anyone add any information on his wehrmacht career?

Hi,

just to add there were at least 3 more officers who were flown out by order:

* Oberst i. G. Hans Jürgen Dingler (night from 19. to 20. JAN, 1943 from Gumrak)
* Oberst Herbert Selle, Armeepionierführer
* Gen. Maj. Ernst Pauer von Arlau, Art. Kdr. 129

I am unsure re Philipp too. His staff (Höh. Art. Kdr. 310) was destroyed in Stalingrad so he should have been there. It very much looks like Philipp was flown out too.

Jürgen
