Gentlemen:

Can anyone confirm the strength of Wehrmacht forces on Sardinia prior to invasion of Sicily?

I have not been able to find a figure in my sources.

Cheers

It appears only 90th PzG division was on Sardinia and it was still forming - ie. missing its 3rd battalions in each regiment and assault gun battalion so I would say just under 10,000 men by the time of the Sicily invasion.

Cheers,

Stefan

Thanks for the info. That is roughly what I understood, although there were few sources on this.
