German Type bunkers near Rome

#1

Post by sidescanner » 09 Feb 2007, 11:49

Good morning everybody.

This is my first post in your forum :D and I hope to bring some interesting news from Italy and to learn as much as possible.

I would like to ask the experts which kind of bunker is this:

another image from a different point of view

I found this bunker in Fregene, on the Tyrrenian shore west of Rome: it's an interesting place with 4 bunkers (in one of them there is a tobruk connected to the big front room)
of that kind nearby and at least 2 tobruk like the following:

I know this is little stuff if you compare this to Atlantikwall...

hello

very interesting !

can do do a drawing for the bunker of the uper two images ?

looks like a covered 5 cm gun emplacement for me (by looking at the pictures) - or a Vf Schartenstand.
the last one is a Rs 58 with protection wall in front of the entrance !

greetings

Thanks everybody for the replies :D

Here is a picture of the back:

And here is a wiev of the nicest bunker of the location, similar to the upper one but with a tobruk in the back. Sorry for the poor quality, but the bunker is all covered by trees.
It seems strange to me that all the 2 bunkers have the left (looking from front) wall down...

another view.

Hi,

it almost looks like a VF 1a of which the sidewalls and roof are largely demolished.

here is the present situation of the "bunker without name" complex...I must confess that I like the idea of a 5.0 cm gun emplacement even if the bunkers are directly on the beach and I don't know how useful could they be in that position...anyway any other suggestion will be greatly appreciated :D
