Infantriekarren IF8

Hello everybody,i'm looking for pictures of Infantriekarren or IF 8.Behind vehicles,horses or men towes.I still have a original IF 8 behind my KS 750.

There's a colour pic of some men of the 12. SS-Panzerdivision taken in Normandy by the PK-photographer Woscidlo in which they are towing a Infanteriekarren packed with ammo.

Photos of these trailers behind motor vehicles will be scarce as they were not designed for motorised tranport but only for human or animal towing.

And as such were designed without mudguards, electrics or a rear light (other than a reflector), this being the road legal requirements at the time in Germany for non-motorised towed items (guns and trailers)

Of course they got towed by vehicles as and when the need arose.

I was searching for some pics of the IF 8 and have found a few of them, but not with the best quality, and one behind a Kettenkrad:

Thanks for the photos, the two horse drawn trailers pairs are the sMG equipped versions, with a Lafette 34 in the first trailer and the flak mount for the MG in the second trailer.

With the Kettenkrad neither trailer is an Jf8, the one immediately behind the KK is a Luftwaffe design commonly seen with paratroopers, not sure of its "name", but its Luftwaffe identification number is FL 29914/5. The rear trailer is the standard KK trailer.design.

Note that on several of the trailers seen in the previous photos, that the wheels rims have been reversed, this has the effect of giving the trailer approximately a 10cm wider track and so improving it stability greatly.

To have the KK towing an Jf8 trailer, they must have done a field modification to the towing hooks and tow bar, as the KK towing pintle is a different size to that used on the Jf8. This was a deliberate difference in order to stop such trailers being towed by motorised vehicles, obviously its a difference that can be got 'round.

im restoring 2 infanterie karren an early war and a late war and im looking for parts if anyone should have some kicking around? In particular a complete chassis for a late war version as i have the wheels and hubs and the tub that fits on top a manual tow bar but no chassis. Also looking for tow bars x 2
please help me someone

German Infantry Carts, Army Field Wagons, Army sleds 1900 - 1945, Schiffer Military Press, by Wifried Kopenhagen, pp 42 - 43 shows pictures of the split type tongue for single horse tow.

The RmVP (propaganda ministry) prohibiting official photographers from taking pictures of horse drawn Wermacht transport does make it difficult to get good pictures of items like these carts.
