Latin American militaries during WWII and 1930s
Hello everybody, I was wondering if we could start a thread where people can post pictures of Latin American militaries during the era. I realize that the only Latin American countries that sent contigents overseas to fight in the war were Mexico and Brasil however there wasn't a country in the world that wasn't directly or indirectly affected by World War II and the time period is of great interest to me. There seem to be a dearth of materials available regarding Latin American militaries during that era. A little is available regarding the Chaco War and the 1941 Peru-Ecuador war, and of course the Mexican and Brasilian contingents, but little else. Photos, colour illustrations, anything like that will be very good, I am especially interested in what their uniforms looked like. Any help anyone could give would be much appreciated and I thank anyone in advance for your help.
Illustrations
Cuban cavalry 1935 and Ecuadorean infantry 1932

The Peruvian Adrian helmet had a Sun
Re: Latin American militaries during WWII and 1930s
That's correct about the sun, and a great site about helmets of that era and the rest of the 20th Century is CascosCollecion, (its all in Spanish however even if you don't speak the language the photos and illustrations make it worth checking out) and its page about the Peruvian Adrian helmet is at http://www.cascoscoleccion.com/peru/peru34.htm
And great illustration Sean RR, I had been wondering what colour the Peruvian Army winter wool uniform was, thanks! I think the only Peruvian field uniform (of that era) I ever saw was the summer cotton one. Incidentally, it appears from black & white photos that the other field uniform, that summer cotton one, was a light colour, however that may be sun bleaching of a darker original colour. Maybe a pale grey or grey-green? Or the same colour originally as the wool uniform but bleached by the sun in Peru to a pale shade? Cool looking caps they had also, with a flap around the back to keep the sun off their neck. Haven't seen any contemporary colour photos of Peruvian summer uniforms so I have no idea of the colour. It's times like this I wish I had the money to fly around to every country's military museums where they would surely have actual examples of the uniforms, take pictures if I'm allowed and get books from their gift shop that I couldn't find anywhere else. Maybe in a few years every country's museums will have plenty of photos and information online anyway about that stuff? Not sure. Anyone from Peru on the forum?
