Bauform Vf 221 (65a alt)
Bauform Vf 221 (65a alt)
Hello,
Hereunder some pictures of a Vf 221 (65a alt) from the Stp von Seeckt in Lombardzijde (Belgium). This kind of bunker was normally mounted with a 5 cm Kwk gun but this one has been modified with the addition of a new central circular brick support and what seems to be a mortar pivot in the center.
What was the function of this modified support? Mortar? MG? or another type of 5cm Kwk?
Does anyone have already seen this kind of modification elsewhere?
2 pictures of this special ringstand.
The 3rd picture is from unmodified Vf 221 for comparaison purpose and comes from the website http://www.bunkerpictures.nl/pictures/n ... /tankmuur/
Greetings

Thanks Jos,
The bunker is for sure a Vf 221 but it has been most probably modified for mounting this weapon (that was normally used in a Vf 217).
On the drawing of the Vf 217, the diameter of the central support is 1.6 m. In my Vf 221, the brick-made support has a diameter of 1.3 m but I think it could match.
Thanks again for the information.

Hello
The Bauform 65a's in Hirtshals, Kltmøller, Thyborøn on the Danish etc. west coast housed an improvised carriage with a 5 cm Kw.K.
At the end of 1943 the defences in Denmark were allotted 20 5 cm Kw.K. without carriages.
Oberleutnant Paar of the 10./H.K.A.R. 180, Hirtshals West, deviced a simple carriage made mostly out of iron from "Czecken Igel".
See: IBA-Informationen 38, s. 84-92.

Hello everybody,
Jens, the special mounting for the 5cm Kwk in your Vf 221 in Denmark could also be a possibility for my ringstand.
The suggestion of Jos could also be a possibility but there was no 3.7 cm Panzerabwehrwerfer (t) in use in the 171. Res. Inf. Div. (begin 1944 changed in 48. Inf Div.) that occupied this sector.
The Stp von Seeckt was manned by the 3.Komp. of Reg 19 of the 171.Res.Inf.Div. (manning the WN Ziethen, Stp Seydlitz, WN Drache and Stp von Seeckt).
I join some gliederung of the 171.Res.Inf.Div. from 1st Dec 1943 and of the 48.Inf.Div from 1st Apr 1944 but no 3.7 cm PzAbw.(t) is present inside the division. But I notice several 2.5 cm PAK112 (f) and 4.5 PAK 184 (r) in the Bodenständige Waffen list, does anyone have already seen these weapons mounted inside a ringstand?
Greetings

Hello
On this drawing from "Taktische Ubersichten der Festungsberiech Jersey" a Bauform 65a
is placed in connection with Ringstand for 3.7 cm tankturret , is that correct ??

Very nice!
Re: Bauform Vf 221 (65a alt)
I suppose it wasn't planned that way - could have been converted when no 5 cm KwK was available.

Hello,
This block was modified following subsidence in the river next door.
It has been transformed for a MG 42.
