Hello Andrzej
Yes, your are very right.
This is one of the 28cm Haubitzen L/12 at the Westwall.
We could locate this picture very perfactly into the very south part of the Westwall, close to the German-French-Swiss border. So what we see here is one of guns of the 28cm batteries of the Stellungs-Artillerie-Abteilung 799. Especialy this battery was very activ by shooting into the french villages in June 1940 at the other side of the river Rhein in Alsace. As a matter of fact some of our german villages just got almost whipped out untile 2 or 3 houses buy conterattacs of the much modern french artillery.
For more details look at our book about the subjekt of the heavy naval batteries of the Westwall at the upper-rhine valley:

Re: 28 cm ( Küsten) Haubitze L/12
This is not the 280 mm l12 howitzer. While the mount is simular it lacks the loading crane on the carriage and the barrel is too long and slender to be the 280 MM as well as lacking the prominent step of the 280. I would judge this to be a 150 or 210 MM weapon.
Re: 28 cm ( Küsten) Haubitze L/12
Hi all,
I thought this old howitzer was used only during the siege of Sevastopol in the summer of 1942 but this image, taken during the winter in Russia, seems to indicate that it was used elsewhere in Eastern Front.

schwere Batterien (bo.) 741, 742, 743 and 744 had 15 guns in action against Sewastopol
(12x H. L/12 and 3x K.H. L/12) -
the batteries fired from June 2th 1942 - July 3rd 1943:
H. L/12 = 2761 and K.H. L/12 = 735 rounds
a total of 10 howitzers were lost by "Rohrkrepierer"
741-743 were resolved, only 744 were sent to Leningrad area

Location unknown for me. Training battery?
Do you have any idea where could be installed 6 pieces bought in 1900 of these guns in China?
