What ever happened to Major Sprosser?

Major Sprosser was Rommel's commander in Italy during WWI. He received his Pour le mérite with Rommel for their daring and unrelenting pursuit of the Italians. Did Major Sprosser fight in WWII? Does anyone know anymore about him other than what was written by Rommel in his book "Infanterie greift an"?
