Drehbettungen without concrete
Hello
Some of the Heeresküstenbatterien in Denmark were equipped with Landeabwehrgeschützen in open emplacements, constructed without any use of concrete. At least some of these guns had got a field of fire of 360 degrees. It seems likely that they were mounted in some kind of Drehbettung.
How does this kind of Drehbettung look like?
Maybe the plate with the centre pivot was fastened to the ground with spikes?
And maybe a traversing mechanism too, fastened wit spikes?
Any photos?
The attached map shows two very well preserved emplacements for 10,5 cm K 331 (f) in HKB Lyngby (3./HKAR 180). There is no trace of concrete in any of them.
Greetings
Lars

Re: Drehbettungen without concrete
Hi Lars
I am convinced that in Lyngby they used the old Drehbettungen from the four guns placed on Sockellafetten in the Regelbau 671.
At least the depressions in the positions exactly matches the holes in the concrete of the old positions for these guns.
Best regards
Jens

Hi Lars,
Prehaps these photos would be of interest?
They show a field mounted 10.5cm K331(f) at Resistance Nest Höhe 266 on Jersey (CIOS).
The main mounting frame has been set into a concrete slab but I would think that it could be fixed only with large girders hammered into the ground.

Re: Drehbettungen without concrete
Very instructive pictures.
In Denmark the lower part of the Drehbettungen was bolted to the concrete position, so that it quite easily could be removed.
Attached pictures one of the earth positions in Lyngby, and of one of the open concrete positions on the Beach at Søndervig.
Best regards
Jens

Hello Lars,
maybe the picture of a 15 cm K 39 that I took once in Idar Oberstein helps:
viewtopic.php?f=70&t=47558&p=1226169#p1226169
This gun was used with a metal ring (on the picture only the rear part is on display) that could be put togehter by the use of some separate parts. In this condition this gun was used late in the war as a HKB in Denmark.
Greetings
Daniel

Hello
In the first post of Lars , there was a question about the bettung of a L.A.G. . In the Pas
de Calais area there are many wooden bettungen with pivot bettungen for these guns .
For the 10.5 cm K.331 (f) in Denmark maybe the Drehbettung was temporally fitted on
wooden railway logs , these were used for other guns and even for Sockellafette .
Regards Jos

Re: Drehbettungen without concrete
Hello
Thanks for the informations.
I was wondering if there existed an “official” device for mounting field guns in 360 degree emplacements without use of concrete. But at least the sites at Lyngby seem rather “behelfsmässig” .
The 15 cm K 39 on its transportable steel mount is an intersting exception. This mount had got an traversing mechanism, fastened to the outer steel ring. There must have been some kind of traversing device for the other mounts too, but how did it look like?
Greetings

Hello
Who can help me with this Bama photo , looks to me a 10.5 cm K.331(f) during a visit of Japanese officers
with General der Artillerie Fahnbacher commander of the XXV A.K. In my opinion it could be H.A.A. 1161??
