Maybe someone know where he could have served? I don't think many Waffen-SS divisions wore this.

Thanks, Marcus. As said the photo is dated 8.11.1943 (out of my head but normally this is 99% correct) which division could have it been? According to the date it can't be LSSAH because they left in october. I'm surely going to re-check the date. Maybe it still can be LSSAH?

Hi Guys,

Troops serving on the Greek Islands, and presumably mainland, also wore tropical gear. Could he be from the 4th SS Division, which I think was in northern Greece at this date?

Or 16th SS, stationed in Corsica for a time in 1943

The SS-Polizei Pz.Gren. Division was in Greece from May 43 to August 44 so fits within your timeframe. Doubt its LSSAH as I think the LAH cyphers would be visible.

They were in Greece during January 1944 and September 1944

Yes they were in the Balkans May '43 until Jan '44.
The tropical uniforms were issued in the Balkans.
