He was Leader of a Kampfgruppe in Bacau, they retreated back to the Karpathern-Pässe, together with parts of the 46.Infanteriedivision. I want to know more about this man.

Horrido!

Hello Nicole!

There was a Franz Knapp who received the DKiG on 02.02.1942 as an Oberleutnant in Pz.Jg.Abt. 46. Your man?

Hello again Nicole!

The Franz Knapp that both I and 123guderian mention is (of course) the Franz Knapp that also received the RK on 10.09.1944 as a Major commanding s.Pz.Jg.Abt. 663. Major Knapp also received an "Anerkennungsurkunde des Oberbefehlshabers des Heeres" on 05.10.1942. Source: Veit Scherzer "Ritterkreuzträger 1939-1945" (2005).

Thank you, I think it is indeed the Kommandeur of this Pnazerjägerabteilung!

Hi Nicole,

...you will find very detailled information about Knapp and his Kampfgruppe in the book, written by Witzel: "Mit Mörsern, Haubitzen und Kanonen", Würzburg 2008. Witzel took part in the fightings and the chapter is worth to read.
