Re: Destroyed/Captured Panther tanks
More photos.
The 3rd photo is the Posen shot-up Panther.
I believe the 1st photo is a Das Reich or Pz Lehr Panther.

More photos.
The first is Russia or Eastern Germany. The 2nd is the famous 12th SS shot from the Battle of the Bulge, and the third, I am lead to believe is 11th Pz Div somewhere in France or Western Germany.
Do jump in and correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Destroyed/Captured Panther tanks
Arthur,
acording my friend Petigny on a french forum,
this panther of the 11. Panzerdivision was destroyed after a fight wich took place september 1st, 1944 in the town of Meximieux, département de l'Ain in France, versus 179th Infantry Regiment of 45th US Infrantry Division.
the "hôtel du lion d'or" was rebuilt and still exist today.

Re: Destroyed/Captured Panther tanks
Wow!
Well done, Derka.
There are almost more destroyed panther shots out there than operational Panther pictures. But it is must easier to take photos when not being shot at and when the action is over.

Re: Destroyed/Captured Panther tanks
Great photos-I had not seen 1 of those.
Yes, exactly the same as II/SS Pz Rgt 5 (probably the most photographed Panther unit). Also II/ Pz Rgt 23 in Russia. I do think also II/Pz Rgt 22 has some Panthers, and I think that might be it for 2nd Abteilungs having Panthers within the Regimental structure. Of course, during the last three months of the war organizations became very mixed and unstable with units making due with whatever equipment was available.
