Panzerjäger Abteilung 525 Italy
Panzerjäger Abteilung 525 Italy
Currently there is a pic on ebay of a Marder II (r) belonging to Pzjg. Abt. 525. According to the seller this pic was taken in Italy. I'm surprised that this unit still had one or more MarderII (r) in addition to its Nashorns. According to Panzer Tracts 7-2 this unit still had 4 operational Marder II on 30 June 1943. I wonder if the Marder really made it to Italy, or could the pic have been taken on the Eastern front instead? Some info on the unit taken from http://panzerjaeger-info.fuehr-online.de/html/WH2.html :

Ebay pic (bottom of the page), the next page also shows some pics from the same unit. The fact that there is a British "beute" truck seems to indicate that these pics were also taken in Italy:

Re: Panzerjäger Abteilung 525 Italy
Arjan,
Please forget about that one quickly!
On 15.4.1943 Gen.Kdo. XXXIX. Gebirgs-A.K. ordered Pz.Jg.Abt. 525 to hand over its remaining Pak-Sfl. (4 Marder II 7,62 cm) until 22.4.1943 to the 50. Inf.Div., and return to Germany as 'Personaleinheit', i.e. personnel only with no heavy weapons/equipment. The unit was then fully converted to 'Nashorn'.

Re: Panzerjäger Abteilung 525 Italy
Thanks a lot Martin for clearing up this matter. I already had my suspicions but this means that both the info in Panzer Tracts and the info given by the ebay seller is misleading (or simply wrong ....).

Re: Panzerjäger Abteilung 525 Italy
Hi all,
Concerning the Pz.Jg.Abt.525, is it known the vehicles and "Nashorns" in the different companies? 1944 and 1945.
In particular, how was the Stab and Stabskp equipped?
Thank you in advance
