Alexander Fick
SS-Sturmbannführer Alexander Fick was in command of I./SS-Artillerie-Regiment 5 in June 1941. This is not mentioned in his personal file as it is noted that he was serving within the Kommando der WSS at that time. Does anyone know the period during which he was in command of I./SS-Artillerie-Regiment 5 ?
Thanks a lot,
Charles

Re: Alexander Fick
Fick is listed as commander of I./SS-AR.5 in Bernau's book with the remark that he was transferred and succeeded by Paul Kausch. A December 1941 fitness report in Kausch's file mentions that he was commander of I./SS-AR.5 since 6.8.1941. Fick suceeded Gustav Wiehle as commander of I./AR.5. Wiehle's file notes that he was commander of I./SS-AR.5 from 15.11.1940 - 1.3.1941, therefore, it would appear that Fick was commander from 1.3.1941 - 6.8.1941 as no other commanders are identified during that time.

Re: Alexander Fick
Thanks a lot John for your answer. This case is another example of another inaccurate Dienstlaufbahn and Führerkarte !

Re: Alexander Fick
So, if Paul Albert Kausch was in command of I./SS-AR 5 from August 1941, who replaced him as Divisions-Adjutant ?
Re: Alexander Fick
Mark Yerger mentions that Kurt Brasack was the CO of I/SS-AR 5 from 01 April 1941 to 30 May 1941. Fick was transferred to the Stab of "Wiking" 06 August 1941.

Re: Alexander Fick
Thanks a lot Pena. I made a mistake concerning Fick. It was of course Ernst Fick and not Alexander Fick as the latter had not served within the Wiking Division.

Re: Alexander Fick
The Dienstlaufbahn below of Ernst Fick, 5.2.1898, confirms that he was the Fick who was briefly a commander in the I./SS-Art.Rgt.5, however the exact dates are unclear from his file and some documents are contradictory. Note that he was sent to the Wiking from the SS-Ausbildungslager Sennheim for informational purposes. Wile Fick had experience as an artilleryman in WW I he had never been a unit commander. Somehow he managed to be awarded an EK II in July 1941.

Re: Alexander Fick
Thanks a lot John. Probably Fick was used as a commander of I./SS-AR5 when Brasack was transfered to IV./SS-AR5 because he was at hand. Finally, his time with the division was certainly longer than it was usually originally programmed for a "Kommandierung zur informatorischen Dienststellung" !
