missing first names of Colonels with RDA-dates

OTL.(1.4.42) Rapps

the 1965 edition of Deutsches Soldatenjahrbuch (p.266) has an Oberst a.D. Rapps, head of Kameradschaft der ehemaligen Eisenbahn-Pioniere Frankfurt/Main [something like Brotherhood of Former (Military) Railroad Engineers].

Any chance that this OLT. Rapps received further promotion?

The Frankfurt address Goldsteinstraße 59/63 provided in Soldatenjahrbuch for the brotherhood is identical with that of a construction company Jakob Rapps Brunnenbau, a specialist for well drilling and water supply. The company had its' seat at Goldsteinstraße from 1890 till 1998.

According to DAL for E-Offz. of 1935 there is a Hauptmann (E) (01.08.34) Gerd Jürgen von Bonin who serve in Reiter-Rgt. 9. He is still listed witk Kav.Rgt. 9 in Stellenbesetzungen of 1937 and 1938. His RDA was changed in 1938 and backdated on 01.02.34 (109)

By the way, do you have more infos about him except the two entries in his Karteikarte ?

I have a feeling this Gerd Jürgen von Bonin could be identical to the Oberstleutnant von Bonin serving in 1943/1944 at the Aufklärungs- und Kavallerieschule in Bromberg (http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 5#p1137175) because in August 1939 the cavalry regiments were broken up into Aufklärungs-Abteilungen (reconnaissance battalions). For the units formed from Kavallerie-Regiment 9 look at http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Gli ... /KavR9.htm.

This Oberstleutnant von Bonin in Bromberg was transferred in April 1944 and became commander of Jäger-Regiment (L) 39 (Dann, 1993, p.253). There he arrived as an Oberst so must have been promoted between July 1943 and April 1944. An officer of Jäger-Regiment (L) 39 described him in his diary as an 'older man'.

Can someone confirm this was Gerd-Jürgen von Bonin?

Hi Jürgen,

I haven't reviewed the roll he would be on, but I would suspect that this is Konrad Nieschlag, born in Hermsdorf bei Berlin. He was a Leutnant in 1.Hann. Inf.Rgt. Nr. 74 and remained in the Reichswehr in 16.IR and 16.RR (Oberleutnant 1.4.25 (290), Rittmeister 1.10.31 (13)).

He was a prisoner of the Soviets and wrote a book about it called "... und morgen gibt es wieder Brot". Funf Jahre in russischen Lagern.

So, my question : is Hans wrong (if same officer), or are they 2 different officers ?
