German radar equipment?
German radar equipment?
Hello!
This strange device tured up in "Radarstellung Linde" 13.schw.Ln.Flugm. Leit Kp/ Ln.Rgt. 251
In the same area there were 2 Würzburg-riese and a Freya radar.
I suspect this item to have some sort of connection with these radars.......
I also made this fantastic drawing to show the arrangement.

Big ears (hochgerat) for me. Watch the depth of the tracking gear, 2 bell shaped acoustic devices had to be fixed upper both arms. But there are good chances it was a passive radio antenna tracker (metric wavelengh UHF) necessary for "triangolation" of the coming back bouncing waves previously emitted by Freya. It was necessary to determine ceiling and ground-speed of bandits. Also now called "telemetry".

Hi Erik E
At home I've a book with some photos of German Radar and also Acoustic detection devices such as the Hochgerat in it. If you would like me to post some photos onto the forum, I'm more than happy to oblige.
I'm unable to do this today, as I do not have use of a scanner until tomorrow morning.
Regards
Bob

Erik :
I may be intirely wrong but could this item be and addition to a WW2 structure ? meaning was this added after the war ? I wonder if you will find a printed numbers on the steel structure ? The supporting arms look all wrong to me for one of a listening device as well as being quite exposed.......
just two cents
