I have heard that 2 italian POWs (Alpini captured in Amba Alagi, A.O.I.) were authorized from British Authority to climb as firsts Mount Kenja, during the war and much time before Sept 8th 1943. Obviously without any specific tooling than a rope and a bit of food. Their attempt was succesfull and they left the flag of the Kingdom of Italy over the heads of the astonished British Authority. That flag is still there. Could someone add further informations? Thanks.
