And of course Konteradmiral (Ing.) Paul-Willy Zieb!

• German Cross in Gold: 28 September 1944, Konteradmiral (Ing.), Commander of the Naval Forces on the Lower Danube and Leader of Battle Group “Zieb.”
• German Cross in Silver: 18 May 1944, Konteradmiral (Ing.), Chief of the Black Sea Main Shipyard Staff.

Regards,
Shawn

P.S. Scheibert lists Zieb as receiving the DKiG for Chief of the Black Sea Main Shipyard Staff...I actually think it was awarded for the functions listed above.

Hi Shawn!

According to Gareth´s bios there is one more:

Bucher Wolfgang, Gen. Maj.
DKS 15.02.1943
DKG 23.02.1944

There is no pic available because he received the DKG posthumously.

Hans site says there is another:
Lahousen von Erwin, Gen. Maj.
DKS 15.09.1943
DKG ?

Thanks! Although I didn't find the DKiG for Generalmajor Erwin Edler von Vivremont Lahousen (full name listed as such in Wolf Keilig) listed in Scheibert, here's Bucher:

Generalmajor Wolfgang Bucher
• German Cross in Gold: 23 February 1944, Oberst, Commander of Grenadier Regiment 417.
• German Cross in Silver: 14 February 1943, Oberst i.G., Senior Quartermaster Army Group North.

Thanks back! And sorry for being totally off topic at the moment, guys.

btw: Shawn. Unfortunately I don´t have the Scheibert books until now. Would you be so kind as to look for Gen. Maj. Otto von Kries. He already died in 1941. Can you confirm that he received the DKiG?

Would be great.

Thank you very much,
Stauffenberg II

Regarding the German Cross in Gold for Erwin (von) Lahousen (Edler von Vivremont):

the "Nachauflage" (1992) of the book by Horst Scheibert DOES list Lahousen in a list of people who have "credibly proven" (glaubhaft nachgewiesen) to have been awarded the decoration.

Lahousen, Erwin von
Oberst
Inf.Rgt. 41
20.07.1944

So, Lahousen got the German Cross both in Gold & Silver.

Cheers,

Hans

Thanks for the info Hans!

What´s a Nachauflage. Is this a 2nd Edition or is it an additional book to the original book? How many are included in these special list.

Thanks

There is a small correction to do:

Zieb received the GCiS on 18th May 1944 as Konteradmiral (Ing.) in the position as Chief of the Black Sea Main Shipyard Staff.
THAT IS CORRECT.

Zieb received the GCiG on 28th September 1944 as Konteradmiral (Ing.) in the position as Chief of the Black Sea Main Shipyard Staff.
THAT IS WRONG!!!!
We can see also the "problem" on Zieb's German Crosses.

In general engeneering/supply .... officers (from the so-called "Etappe") received the German Cross in Silver (GCiS).
Front-line officers got the German Cross in Gold (GCiG).

But in this case the German Navy couldn't handle in an other way.

For the German nit-picking bureaucracy, it was simply impossible that KAdm ZIEB received his GCiG on 28th September 1944 as Chief of the Black Sea Main Shipyard Staff, because this is not a front line command/assignment.

Konteradmiral (Ing.) Paul Willy Zieb received the GCiG being Commander of the Naval Forces on the Lower Danube
or Leader of Battle Group „Zieb”

So USAF 1986 has it correct, too!!!
