Ukrainians! Whoever hides a Red Army soldier will be shot says a German proclamation in Ukrainian and German. The death penalty was applied by the Germans to any Ukrainian who gave aid or merely information or directions to the UPA or Ukrainian guerillas. Also the death applied for anyone who did not report or aided a Jew to escape. Death was the penalty for simply listening to a Soviet Radio program or reading anti-German leaflets.

The Soviet Union also sacrified countless Ukrainian lives in it's "Cannon fodder" procedures. Soldiers were march across minefields by foot to clear them by their deaths! One astounding theory is that Stalin used the war as a pretext to destroy Ukrainians and other Soviets citizens. This theory was propose by an Englishman of Russian origin, Nicolai Tolstoi, in his book: "Stalin's secret war".

I think the warning was pretty obvious for those then and there who could read Ukrainian or German.

If i understand correctly, it reads:

Ukrainians!

Whoever hosts in his/her house or on his/her property Russian soldiers in uniform or civilian(clothes), especially parachutists, also Commissars, Communist leaders or partisans, or whoever helps them with useful things, foodstuffs and clothing, is going to be shot.

Whoever provides credible information, that leads to the discovery and arrest of Russian officers in uniform or civilian(clothes), parachutists, Commissars, partisan leaders and higher Communist officials, gets a reward of 100 Rubles.

The German Military Command

You can't say they weren't warned
