Hans Traut
Another one caused by David's search for a division to research!
Hans Traut is listed on this site as a CO of the 7th Inf. Div. from December 1943 until mid-February, but neither the listings at Lexikon der Wehrmacht or Feldgrau mention it, though, of course, this does coincide with von Larisch's command of the 78th.
Can anyone confirm that he was indeed temporarily assigned to this 2nd Armee unit? Or was he concentrating his efforts on building up the defences of Orscha?
Regards from the Park,
Rich

Hmm!
Shawn,
Thanks for that (I'd figured out most of his posts from various sources, but missed the 263rd.
No mention of the 7th Inf. though?
Marcus,
Do you know what the source for his time at the 7th was? I noticed this morning that Sandy Mitcham also lists him there, but with no specific source either (I'll contact Gareth privately.)

Hans Traut (smoking, as Oberstleutnant) with his soldiers from Infanterie Regiment 90...(Salesches,France 1940) While German aircraft were dropping leaflets over the Moroccan troops trapped in the Mormal Forest urging them to surrender, we heard through the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht about the early successes of our armed forces.

Re: Hans Traut
Source : http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/ ... 235&page=9(29.5.40 at 15:15 hrs) We've reached the western foot of the "sugar loaf" hill on which Cassel is built, from there our mortars can range freely on the town while we are masked from the enemy artillery fire by the steep contour of the hill but the Cassel height is still partially occupied by the enemy. We’ve decided to head for Winnezelle.

British and French prisoners are encountered passing through a road intersection; their leaders are questioned by Oberstlt. Traut.

Re: Hans Traut
on Gen. Traut's possible mFb at 7. ID, I have him temporarily succeeded by Oberst Herbert von Larisch at 78. Sturm Div from 1-11-43 to 15-2-44. See Bradley and Keilig for Larisch and Mehner for 78. Sturm Div.
Best regards,
Genstab
