Looking any info on this Div.

I know that was involved in Ital. invasion of Slovenia in 1941 and at that time it's CO was Gen. Federico Romero (sp.).

What had happend with Div. after that?

Thanks in advance,
Kocjo

Ave Kocjo,

The division remained in Slovenia until September 1943 and took part in practically all major anti-partisan operations conducted by the Italians during 1941-43. Her units were garrisoning the Lower Carniola (Novo mesto, Metlika, Crnomel, Semic, Trebnje) with the divisional headquarters being located in Novo mesto.

Hope this helps.

Gratiam,

Octavianus

Ave Kocjo,

Just note of interest: According to some books and post-war testimonial the Commanding Officer of the Infantry Division "Isonzo", General Guido Cerrutti, was a pro-communist sympathizer or a man who had many warm (maybe too warm!) connections with the Slovene partisans during the war years 1942-1943.

Kocjo ,
Division Isonzo was part of XI Corp, headquartered in Ljubliana , garrisoning Western Slovenia & Karlovac district in northern Croatia with three infantry Divisions :
14th Div Isonzo
153rd Macerata from June 1942 , replaced by 57th Div Lombardia in May 1943
21 Div Granatieri di Sardegna repratiated in Italy in Sept 42 after having been replaced by 22nd Cacciatori Delle Alpi in July 42 .
The XI Corp contained partisan activity , especially after a successful campaign from July to November 1942 .

The 1st Mobile Div Eugenio di Savoia operated in the 2nd Army reserve in Karlovac and from Oct 1941 on the Northern Dalmatian Coast .

Unfortunately I have no detailed infos about activities of Isonzo but if will come across some additional infos will keep you posted .

Yours
