Italian M.V.S.N.- What is it?
What was the Italian M.V.S.N.?
Anyone have photos of the M.V.S.N?
And, were colonial italian troops assigned completely different uniforms than the typical italian tropical uniform?

There was also blackshirt-battalions in the Italian occupation-zones of Yugoslavia. In 1943 MVSN units fought against the allied landing in Sicily. During the fighting one of the most well known and decorated MVSN-generals Enrico Francisci was KIA on 11 July 1943, had joined the Army at the age of 18 he fought in the 1911-12 Italo-Libyan War, the First World War, the 1935-36 Abbysinian War, Spanish Civil War, during the Second World War his campaign participation included Greece.
The General's decorations included one Silver and three Bronze Medals for Valour, three War Crosses for Military Valour and one for Military Merit.
In the Italian Social Republic created by those who remained loyal to Mussolini and his German Allies after the Italian Armistrice in 1943, the MVSN was replaced by the Guardia Nazionale Repubblicana (GNR or Republican National Guard). The GNR was to reach a strenght of about 80 000 and bore the bunt of the anti-partisan fighting until the collapse of the ISR in 1945.

The CCNN (MVSN) in the colonies wore tropical uniforms similar to the regular troops, except for wearing a blackshirt.
